VIRTUAL Elements of Story Session 2 -- The Sound of Your Writing

  • Yellow Arrow House 335 S Conkling Street Baltimore, MD 21224 (map)

Join author Ariele Sieling as she delves into the intricacies of story and the craft of writing. She will be using Ursula K. Le Guin’s book titled Steering the Craft as the basis, with each workshop focusing on a new topic, including: a discussion of story, voice, grammar, syntax, repetition, words, person, tense, point of view, and more. Each workshop will include a short summary of Le Guin’s perspective on the topic, a discussion of the concept, and a writing exercise to take home with you. You can grab a copy of the book and read along, or you can just drop in and enjoy the sessions without.

This session will look at the flow and feel of words, the sounds and silences, the rhythms and beat.

Classes will be at 7:00 PM EST at the Yellow Arrow House, on the third Tuesday of each month beginning on March 17, 2020 and ending on February 16, 2021. There are 12 workshops, each 1 hour long, at $20 each or $200 for the whole series (13 classes — that’s 20% off). Classes will be offered virtually as long as we are unable to gather in person.

In the case of inclement weather, all participants will be contacted, and we will either reschedule or bump the topic schedule forward.
