As creatives, we are in a constant battle with ourselves to keep the momentum going when working on a piece of writing. This summer, the Yellow Arrow Vignette series is dedicated to how we refuse—patiently and gingerly, maybe even stubbornly—to douse our creative spark.
Through Yellow Arrow Vignette we hope to continue and expand our mission of creating a space where writers who identify as women have a place where their voices are amplified and create ripples of empathy and resilience. We landed on “vignette” because literary vignettes are known to be pieces of writing that depict brief, but highly detailed moments in time. Through the Yellow Arrow Vignette we look forward to sharing vibrant and poignant glimpses into the lives of our writers and hope that these stories, when viewed as a collective, will tell an expansive and inclusive narrative.
Yellow Arrow Vignette is edited by Vignette’s Managing Editor Siobhan McKenna. Since January 2020, Siobhan has worked tirelessly for Yellow Arrow as an editorial associate and interviewer, among many other roles. She earned her bachelor’s degree in creative writing and biology from Loyola University Maryland and a master’s degree in nursing from Johns Hopkins University. In addition to her work at Yellow Arrow, Siobhan is an ICU travel nurse and is currently located in Seattle, Washington. Her writing can be found throughout the Yellow Arrow blog, within our EMERGE zine, and with Next Level Nursing.
