PEREGRINE focuses on illuminating and reclaiming languages, exploring our authors' personal connections with language, self, and place. Sometimes it is the language of their parents that wasn’t passed down, sometimes it is language that they are just now in a place to own. Other times it is the language of nature that is communicating with them or the language of a body that they are getting to know.

The guest editor of PEREGRINE, Raychelle Heath, holds a BA in languages from Winthrop University and an MFA in poetry from the University of South Carolina. She uses her poetry and her podcast to tell the multifaceted stories of black women in the world. Raychelle also explores her experiences with the culturally rich communities that she has encountered in her travels.

The cover art and the words within soar to new heights as those included explore language and their personal journeys through their individual voices. You can learn more about the cover art, “Shey,” and the cover artist, Daryle Newman, in a wonderful conversation between Raychelle and Daryle on our YouTube channel at youtu.be/4Z28PqJOFWU.

On December 15 at 8:00 pm EST, please join Raychelle and our authors for the live and virtual reading of PEREGRINE. More information is forthcoming but make sure you save the date.
